Sex Addiction & Porn Addiction
Sex addiction is a condition characterized by the loss of control over sexual behaviors, leading to harmful consequences for the individual and those around them. These consequences include relationship distress, instability in mental and emotional well-being, separation or divorce, job loss, compromised health, restricted freedom, spiritual deprivation, difficulties with intimacy, and a sense of shame. It is worth noting that porn addiction, combined with masturbation, is the most prevalent form of sex addiction. Typically, sex addiction begins with the involvement of pornography and masturbation and may progress to include fetishes, cybersex, multiple casual encounters, extramarital affairs, engaging with prostitutes, and even illegal activities in certain cases.
During the initial counseling session at Chosen for Victory, Roxanne & Robert assist in identifying the specific types of sex addiction you may be experiencing, followed by offering a well-established recovery program. By wholeheartedly embracing the recovery process (rather than merely engaging with it superficially), not only will you overcome the addiction, but you will also maintain your freedom.
Sexual Betrayal Trauma
The exposure or disclosure of your partner's sexual infidelity and lies may have caught you off guard. As a result, you may be experiencing a whirlwind of emotions, feeling lost, confused, and desperate for answers. At Chosen for Victory, Roxanne and Robert offer a safe and understanding space where you can express your feelings and explore ways to cope. In the beginning sessions, they will assist you in making decisions, establishing healthy boundaries, and practicing self-care. Rest assured that all of your questions will be addressed.
Roxanne & Robert will be available in future sessions to assist you in recovering from additional challenges related to the crisis, such as depression, anxiety, unhealthy coping mechanisms, controlling behaviors, people-pleasing tendencies, experiences of abuse, difficulties with intimacy, family-related concerns, and low self-esteem. It is important to remember that you are not alone! Support and optimism are available to you and your relationship.
Intimacy Anorexia
Intimacy anorexia refers to the deliberate withholding of mental, emotional, spiritual, and/or physical intimacy from one's partner. To gain a comprehensive understanding of this condition, we recommend reading Dr. Doug Weiss' book titled Intimacy Anorexia: Healing the Hidden Addiction in Your Marriage. Roxanne & Robert Frost at Chosen for Victory possess extensive knowledge about this issue and its detrimental impact on relationships. They will expertly guide you through a step-by-step process to overcome intimacy anorexia and transform your relationship from mere roommates to a loving and caring connection enriched with emotional, spiritual, and physical intimacy. It is worth noting that intimacy anorexia commonly occurs as a consequence of sex addiction.
Additionally, the characteristics of intimacy anorexia can stem from familial background concerns, experiences of sexual abuse, or reactivity. Roxanne & Robert are here to assist you in identifying whether you are affected by intimacy anorexia, delve into the underlying causes of the condition, and provide you with effective strategies to conquer this issue. It is possible to achieve genuine and enduring intimacy in your relationship!
Marriage Counselling
Robert and Roxanne will celebrate their fortieth wedding anniversary this year (2023). Throughout their marriage, they faced significant challenges due to Robert's undisclosed addiction to pornography. As the problems became overwhelming, both Robert and Roxanne embarked on a healing process involving counseling, group meetings, self-help literature and their faith. Through this journey, Robert has learned how to overcome his sexual addiction and treat Roxanne with respect and love. Similarly, Roxanne has undergone her own healing journey from the trauma caused by her partner's betrayal. They are deeply committed to the institution of marriage and are passionate about assisting others in not only surviving but thriving in their own marriages. Their expertise lies in helping individuals break free from addictions, conquer intimacy issues, and strengthen the foundational pillars of their relationships.

Is telephone/Zoom video counselling effective?
Certainly! In reality, studies show that telephone Zoom video counselling is equally as effective as in-person counselling. This mode of therapy offers numerous advantages, including time saved on commuting, accessibility for individuals residing in remote areas, access to specialized assistance that may not be locally available, and the convenience of receiving counselling from the comfort of one's own home or workplace. It's worth noting that Robert & Roxanne exclusively provide online sessions through video (via Zoom) or phone, as they no longer have an office for in-person counselling. We welcome clients from across Canada who are struggling in their marriages.
